PARAMARIBO — A 24-year-old man was arrested by the police shortly after a robbery, after he snatched a gold necklace from a woman on Bolletriestraat. The suspect, KS, was quickly arrested in the immediate vicinity.
KS ripped the chain off the neck of a 47-year-old woman. The injured party was not injured. After the robbery, the unarmed suspect fled.
A police officer from the Motor Surveillance Service (MSD) department, who was in the area, immediately took action after the report. He managed to arrest the suspect in the immediate vicinity a short time later.
The stolen gold necklace, which had been discarded by the suspect in a roadside gutter, was recovered shortly afterwards. The suspect was then handed over to the police at the Herman Gooding station for arraignment and was taken into custody pending the investigation.
