Students who are attending the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) programme hosted at the St. Martin’s Secondary School now stand a chance at being awarded cellphones and laptops courtesy of Flow, if they perform well in the programme.The programme, which commenced on July 13, 2026, and will conclude on July 31, 2026, will see more than 60 students take part in a series of subjects that are built around Artificial Intelligence.
Registered primary and secondary school students chose one or two classes from a roster including Web Design, Music-making, App Development, Graphic Designing, Integrated Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
While vying for the electronic devices is an exciting venture, founder of STEM SVG Petrus Gumbs, told SEARCHLIGHT that the true purpose of the programme is to get students more involved in understanding how to use AI, not only for fun, but also in their work.
“Now we did say there are some…negative and positive aspects of AI, and we want students to understand that it is a tool that can be harnessed to benefit themselves tremendously, academically as well,” Gumbs pointed out.
