The seasonal flu vaccination campaign in Andorra starts today and will last until January 31. Vaccination is mainly aimed at people over 60 years old and minors of this age who present risk factors.
To receive the vaccine, you need to make an appointment at the primary care centers. In the case of minors de 60 years old with risk factors it will be necessary to present a prescription from the primary care doctor.
The campaign also includes the groups that can transmit the flu to vulnerable people, such as workers in health and social health centers, professionals in essential community services and inmates and staff of the Penitentiary Center.
During the previous campaign they were administered 8,091 vaccinesof which 3,809 they corresponded to men and 4,282 to women. Health remembers that the annual vaccination is the main prevention tool against the flu and contributes to avoiding serious cases, complications and hospital admissions.
At the same time, the ministry maintains the protection strategy against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). The newborns between April 1, 2026 and March 31, 2027 and children under two years of age with risk factors can receive preventive treatment with nirsevimab free of charge. The period of administration goes from from October 1 to March 31, 2027.
For adults, the vaccine against RSV is available free of charge for those over 80 years old, with prior appointment at primary care centers, and for those over 60 years old living in social health centers. It does not require a prescription and can be given together with the flu vaccine.
