    Private sources confirmed to Okaz that Portuguese Bruno Lage has agreed to coach the Diriyah team in the upcoming season 2026-2027.

    The sources said that Bruno Lage agreed to train in Diriyah, where he will lead a large and exciting project, while some final touches are currently being agreed upon before the official signing, as 90% of the negotiations have been completed.

    Previous connections with Al-Ahly of Egypt

    It is noteworthy that the name of coach Bruno Lage was linked to the possibility of coaching Egyptian Al-Ahly on more than one occasion, the most recent of which was after the departure of Danish coach Jes Torop at the beginning of this month. However, Al-Ahly announced yesterday (Monday) the contract with Moroccan coach Hussein Amouta, which closes Bruno Lage’s file for the second time in a few months.

    Bruno Lage coached Benfica, Wolverhampton, and Botafogo. During his career, he led 222 matches, during which he achieved 128 victories, drew 40 matches, and suffered 54 defeats. He achieved four titles, all of them with Benfica, as he won the Portuguese League (once), the Portuguese League Cup (once), and the Portuguese Super Cup (twice), according to the Transfer Market website.
