MUSCAT, NOV 8
SOHAR Freezone has signed six land-lease agreements for projects with announced investment exceeding RO 63.00 million, led by an automotive and advanced industries park and a transformer manufacturing facility.
The agreements, signed at a ceremony organised by the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones (OPAZ), cover approximately 440,000 square metres and span manufacturing, medical devices, textile reuse and logistics.
The largest project is an automotive and advanced industries park to be developed by Sohar Automotive & Advanced Industries Park SPC (FZC), established by EW Partners.
The company plans to invest approximately RO 38.00 million in real assets across a site of about 317,000 square metres.
Its first phase will provide approximately 180,000 square metres of manufacturing plants, workshops and warehouses for automotive producers, suppliers and advanced manufacturing businesses.
Voltamp International LLC (FZC) will invest RO 15.00 million in a transformer manufacturing facility occupying 75,000 square metres.
The plant will manufacture power and distribution transformers for regional and international customers, using materials including copper, electrical steel, mild steel and industrial oils.
The project is expected to support technical skills development and increase local participation in the electrical equipment supply chain.
Dr Raid al Rubaiey, Chief Executive Officer of SOHAR Port and Freezone, said the agreements would broaden the freezone’s industrial base and strengthen links between manufacturing and international markets.
“They will diversify our industrial base, strengthen value chains and connect manufacturing with regional and global markets through SOHAR Port,” he said.
In the healthcare sector, Lalan Middle East LLC will invest approximately RO 1.50 million to expand its medical device manufacturing and integrated services operations by 7,500 square metres.
The expansion will add downstream manufacturing, laboratory facilities and specialised warehousing to serve healthcare supply chains in Oman and the wider GCC.
Five Star Group (FZC) LLC will invest RO 3.85 million in a used-clothing sorting facility covering 25,000 square metres.
The facility will serve African markets, including Angola, Congo and Tanzania, supporting textile reuse and generating additional cargo through SOHAR Port.
Two further agreements cover warehousing, distribution and re-export activities.
Volt Power and Lighting (FZC) LLC will invest RO 800,000.00 in an 8,406-square-metre warehouse for importing, storing, trading and re-exporting finished electrical and lighting products.
The facility will connect suppliers in Asia with customers across African markets.
Dynamic Logistics Services will invest RO 150,000.00 in a storage and re-export facility occupying 7,000 square metres.
Its initial operations will focus on tools and engineering equipment, with plans to expand into specialised warehousing.
The projects will use the freezone’s industrial infrastructure and access to SOHAR Port to support manufacturing, distribution and international trade.
