During the presentation of the Olinia model, the president highlighted that the vehicle represents much more than a electric caras it symbolizes the capacity for innovation, creativity and technological development of young Mexicans.
“It is a vehicle designed by minds of young mexicans for Mexico and for the world. It’s not just about making an electric car. It is about demonstrating that we are capable of imagining it, designing it, developing it and making it a reality,” he stated.
Sheinbaum He noted that the project was developed during 18 months by young people from different public institutions in the country, who dedicated themselves full time to the creation of the vehicle.
“Today we present Olinia. Olinia means movement: movement of ideas, creativity, moving with innovation, with hope. Because Olinia is not just an electric vehicle,” he expressed.

For his part, the director of the Olinia Project, Roberto Capuano Trippreported that the model will be available in different versions and that the first deliveries will begin during the summer of 2027.

According to the developers, the vehicle was designed for urban and short-distance trips, with a maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour and a range of more than 125 kilometers per charge.

One of the aspects that the development team highlighted is the low operating cost. While a gasoline car has an approximate cost of 2.40 pesos per kilometer traveled, Olinia One would cost just 49 cents per kilometer.
According to project estimates, a person who travels 75 kilometers a day could save more than 50 thousand pesos a year compared to an internal combustion vehicle.
