The public was succinctly informed about the murder in the Trakai district as early as April 17. The police department announced at that time that on April 16 around 5 p.m. 35 minutes The body of the owner of the homestead (born in 1961) was found in the yard of the homestead in the village of Žaliosios, Trakai district, and a man was found nearby (born in 1963), who was hospitalized due to injuries.

The police also reported that the suspect (born in 1982) was arrested and taken into custody, and a pre-trial investigation has been opened for murder and minor health impairment.

Now the scandalous facts about the fact that the police officers communicated with the man suspected of murder at night have come to light. The man told them that he killed one person and injured another, but the police did not even bother to check this story and let the man go. About seventeen hours later, the man’s whole story came true.

Morning applied to the Vilnius District VPK and it was confirmed here that the information available to the editors is correct.

He did not pay attention to the drunk’s story

The story began on April 16. Around 0 am 19 minutes the drunken man who called the police called the officers himself. He said he stole an Audi car belonging to an acquaintance and drove it into a ditch. The man indicated the exact place in the Onuškis ward (Trakė district) where the officers would be waiting.

A crew of officers from the Elektrėnai Police Commissariat was sent to the specified location. When the police arrived, they found a drunk man (born in 1982) and a car in a ditch.

The driver was found to be moderately drunk, so the officers started filling out the paperwork. And at that time, the man decided to tell himself and started talking to the police about the fact that he ran over one person with the same car and later hit another. The man even offered to show where everything happened, but the officers ignored these words.

The man was released. And in the evening of the same day, also in the Onuškis precinct, not far from the place where the drunk driver ran into the ditch, two injured people were found. No one could help him anymore.

In the evening of the same day, the man, who was released during the night, was arrested and taken into custody.

The body of the killer was handed over to forensic experts, who now have to answer a number of questions posed by the prosecution. Among them is whether the victim could have been saved by reacting to the suspect’s story in time.

For murder, the Penal Code provides imprisonment from seven to fifteen years. A minor health disorder is subject to restriction of liberty or arrest or deprivation of liberty for up to three years

    Officials face criminal liability

After these scandalous facts came to light, the investigators of the Immunity Board of the Vilnius County VPK became interested in the event. How Morning informed Julija Samorokovskaja, the representative of Vilnius county VPK, an official inspection was started at the Immunity Board, material is being collected for the initiation of a pre-trial investigation due to non-fulfillment of official duties. It is almost certain that this investigation will be launched in the near future.

According to the representative of the Vilnius County Police, after the initiation of a pre-trial investigation into non-performance of official duties, the official inspection would be temporarily suspended and its further course would depend on the results of the pre-trial investigation.

Morning according to information, the investigators who started to explain the actions of the officers have already collected a lot of data about the events of that night.

At least one of the two policemen who caused trouble has already drawn attention to himself before, when he found drugs in the detainee’s possession and decided not to record them in the arrest documents.

But what happened was that the officer’s partner put the fakes back into the detainee’s pocket. After the detainee was taken to the detention center, the officers working there found the drugs and started a pre-trial investigation. The prosecutor’s office was later forced to drop this investigation due to improperly filed evidence.

The Criminal Code indicates that a civil servant or a person equivalent to him, who, due to negligence, has not performed his duties or has performed them improperly, if as a result the state, the European Union, an international public organization, a legal entity or a natural person has suffered significant damage, shall be punished by public service or a fine, or by restriction of liberty, or by arrest, or by imprisonment for up to two years.
