SAN MARINO – The refinancing of public debt, the risks linked to inflation and energy costs and the drone attack on a ship flying the San Marino flag in the Black Sea were among the topics addressed by the Secretary of State for Finance Marco Gatti during council work.
IMF mission and financial stability
Reporting on the Article IV mission to Bangkok with the heads of the International Monetary Fund and Deputy Director Okamura, Gatti drew attention to the possible effects of rising energy costs and inflation on public budgets.
The Secretary of State claimed the Government’s preventive choices on debt refinancing, through rollover operations which, according to reports, would guarantee financial stability for the next five years.
Among the interventions indicated there is also the investment program in the energy sector, with the aim of autonomously covering up to 30% of national needs.
San Marino ship hit by three drones
Gatti also informed the Council about a serious incident that occurred in the Black Sea, where a ship flying the San Marino flag was hit by three drones while it was in Romania’s territorial waters.
The vessel belongs to a Maltese owner and is managed by a management company from Palermo. Investigations are underway in collaboration with the Romanian authorities to clarify the dynamics of the incident.
The Secretary of State underlined the high level of risk in the area, in which, according to what was reported in the House, 80 boats have been affected in the last six months.
San Marino in international parliamentary fora
During the council work, some international diplomatic and parliamentary appointments were also addressed.
The advisor Oscar Mina (PDCS) reported on the participation of the San Marino delegation in the 24th meeting of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, held in Andorra, highlighting the designation of San Marino within the Subcommittee on the Rules of Procedure of the Assembly.
The advisors Gian Carlo Venturini (PDCS) e Carlotta Andruccioli (D-ML) instead illustrated the results of the European Conference of Presidents of Parliaments, held in Rome, dedicated to the themes of democratic resilience and artificial intelligence.
