The rockfall on Früstensteig does not seem to have been that big. As our photographer on site reports, the passage can be walked on the scree. A trail has now formed and the rockfall itself is no longer visible.
Just on Friday, the Office for the Environment announced that the Fürstensteig was open again. Now there seems to have been a rockfall, as a reader’s photo shows. There is rubble on the hiking trail.
The Fürstensteig is one of the most popular hiking trails in Liechtenstein. It starts above Gaflei and leads through the impressive rock face to the Gafleisattel. For this reason, the Office for the Environment carries out extensive surveys every spring Clearance and repair work on the way through. This year, these were completed earlier than usual last Friday. Since the Fürstensteig is at risk of falling rocks, stones or rubble can come loose at any time. It is therefore advisable to wear a helmet. (red)
