Ricardo Vásquez: Chorrillos candidate is denounced for hit and run in an alleged state of intoxication and record of 7 fines

The Somos Perú candidate for mayor of Chorrillos, Ricardo Santiago Vásquez Lagunais identified as allegedly responsible for a hit and run that occurred on July 26, 2026. A police report records that a car he owned had collided with another parked vehicle and left the scene.

The incident was disclosed on July 31, when photographs of the affected vehicle and documents related to the complaint were published.

According to the content released, the accident occurred around 9 pm on José Olaya Avenue, in the Santa Teresita de Villa area, Chorrillos. The affected vehicle was a DFSK truck with license plate CXK-651, while the car reported as a getaway was a dark gray Toyota Corolla with license plate B2G-460.

He Verbal Complaint Record No. 80recorded on July 26 at 10:38 pm, records a report of a traffic accident. The police document indicates that the owner of the truck, Alejandro Américo Basilio Payva, stated that he had left his vehicle parked in front of his home when he heard a loud sound and the alarm was activated.

According to his statement, the neighbors went out to the street and observed that the Toyota Corolla with license plate B2G-460 had hit the truck. The complainant maintained that the car caused damage to the right front and that, due to the impact, part of the bumper of the vehicle that would have caused the crash was left in place.

The record states that the complainant stated not knowing who was driving the Toyota Corolla at the time of impact. It also indicates that, after the accident, the driver fled in an unknown direction.

A registration query of the B2G-460 license plate released along with the case identifies a 2011 Toyota Corolla, metallic gray in color, whose owners are listed as Alicia Allison Gutiérrez Charún and Ricardo Santiago Vásquez Laguna. In addition, Vásquez himself declared this vehicle in his 2022 electoral resume.

The publications that spread the case on social networks also maintain that Vásquez had been in an alleged state of intoxication and that he had left the place accompanied by a woman, although this has not been confirmed by the police.

The complainant is also cited in the material subsequently released. “That whole bottom part that is missing from the bumper of my car is there,” he says, describing the pieces that were left on the road after the impact. According to their version, when they tried to stop the driver, he left the scene.

According to the SAT information provided for this investigation, the candidate registers seven traffic violationsfive of them classified as serious.

Among the violations mentioned are behaviors such as parking incorrectly and not respecting traffic signs. The information corresponds to a query about his history and must be differentiated from the accident reported on July 26, whose responsibility would still have to be determined by the authorities.

Vásquez is currently a Somos Perú candidate for mayor of Chorrillos in the 2026 Regional and Municipal Elections. His candidacy appears in the list of candidates for that district.

The candidate has already been the subject of other journalistic investigations during the current campaign. In August he was accused of having had an alleged relationship with a teenager and described these accusations as attacks and defamations. Subsequently, the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office Specialized in Violence against Women and Members of the Chorrillos Family Group opened a preliminary investigation into these events, after the dissemination of chats.
