On Sunday, October 4, the Regional and Municipal Elections 2026 (ERM 2026)a process in which more than 26 million Peruvians defined, with their vote, the future of their districts, provinces and regions.
The elections began at 7 am and lasted until 5 pm, when the voting centers closed. In these ERM 2026, citizens authorized to vote elected 25 regional governors, 196 provincial mayors, 1,696 district mayors, 364 regional councilors and 10,842 provincial and district councilors.
The citizens who were elected polling station members (three regulars and six substitutes) attended their polling stations at 6 am, in order to set up the polling stations and guarantee that the elections take place without setbacks or delays.
Citizens who fulfilled this function will receive financial compensation of S/ 165, an amount equivalent to 3% of a UIT, plus one day of paid and non-compensable rest (if the training days are completed).

- Peru First with 16,672%
- We are Peru with 12,499%
- Huánuco Primero Regional Independent Movement with 10,685%
- Alliance for Progress with 9,087%
What is the fine for not voting?
This penalty is not the same for everyone, because it depends on the socioeconomic classification of the district where the citizen who fails to vote is registered in his National Identity Document (DNI).
The fine is calculated based on the amount of the ITU 2026, which is S/5,500.
- Non-poor districts: 2% of the ITU, which is equivalent to S/ 110
- Poor districts: 1% of the ITU, which is equivalent to S/ 55
- Districts in extreme poverty: 0.5% of the ITU, which is equivalent to S/ 27.50
Do I have to pay a fine if I do not fulfill my role as a polling station member?
Yes, and in this case the penalty is equivalent to 5% of a UIT, that is, S/275.
