SHUSHA, Azerbaijan, September 8. A delegation
of religious leaders from Türkiye, Georgia, and Iraq visited the
Yukhari Govhar Agha and Ashagi Govhar Agha mosques as part of their
visit to the city of Shusha, Trend‘s Karabakh bureau reports.
The guests were provided with detailed information about the
history and activities of both mosques. The delegation was shown
photographs depicting the mosques’ former condition, as well as the
destruction they suffered during the occupation.
During the visit, it was noted that a total of 21 mosques had
been in operation in the city of Shusha. During the occupation,
most of the mosques were destroyed, and some places of worship were
used for other purposes.
Furthermore, it was noted that during the occupation of
Azerbaijani lands, the destruction not only of people but also of
Azerbaijan’s national, spiritual, and religious values was an
integral part of Armenia’s policy of vandalism.

of Azerbaijani religious leaders operating in Türkiye, Georgia, and
Iraq has begun a visit to the city of Shusha, Trend‘s Karabakh bureau
reports.
The visit is part of the “Path of Victory: In the Footsteps of
Victory” project, organized by the Moral Values Promotion Fund,
which operates under the State Committee for Work with Religious
Organizations.
The purpose of the visit is to protect national and spiritual
values, strengthen the attachment of our compatriots living abroad
to their historical homeland, and convey the realities of
Azerbaijan to the international community.
As part of the visit’s program, the delegation will visit the
“Bullet-riddled statues,” the Yukhari Govhar Agha, Ashagi Govhar
Agha, Saatli, and Mamayi mosques in Shusha, the Jidir Duzu plain,
the Vagif Museum and Mausoleum Complex, and other historical and
cultural landmarks.
