The Directorate of Education in the Ramtha District celebrated honoring the participants in the Green Sheikh Award for Environmental Storytelling 2026, at Al Nahda Mixed Secondary School, under the patronage of the District Superintendent, Mahmoud Braizat, and in the presence of the initiator of the initiative, the environmental advisor to the government of the Emirate of Ajman, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Abdulaziz bin Ali Al Nuaimi.
The Director of Education, Dr. Faisal Al-Hawamdeh, said that the award aims to consolidate environmental awareness and enhance the culture of sustainability among students by using various literary arts and focusing on writing human stories related to the field of environment and climate, to enable students to build a sustainable global vision, motivate them to be creative in the field of environmental protection, and enhance social responsibility and link it to culture and storytelling.
He added that the award represents an important platform for discovering and refining student talents, and encouraging emerging generations to adopt the concepts of sustainability and environmental work in innovative ways, appreciating the role of Sheikh Al Akhdar in developing the partnership with the directorate and supporting such qualitative initiatives.
It is noteworthy that the award, which was launched last February, in cooperation with the Department of Educational Supervision in the Directorate, included holding a training workshop for the school’s female students, presented by Sheikh Al Nuaimi on how to formulate narrative works such as short stories, novels and articles, including various paragraphs, and the play “The Cry of a Tree”, during which the students expressed their awareness of environmental issues, followed by announcing the names of the winners, and honoring them and representatives of the participating activities with shields of appreciation for their efforts in spreading awareness about environmental issues. And the climate.
