Prime Minister Edi Rama has issued a strong warning stating that those who are causing damage to public property, private businesses and state institutions will pay. The head of government made the statement after the visit he made to the premises of the College of Europe, near the Pyramid, which was destroyed by protesters yesterday. The head of the government is careful to emphasize that the perpetrators are not the students, but masked people whom he identifies as representatives of the opposition.
Rama’s strong reaction:
Until yesterday, this was the office of the college of Europe, the school of united Europe that we opened in Albania together with the European leaders present here in Tirana.
Today, this is the ruin of hands that are not and can never be the hands of students. Students are the future. Students are those who see far and who want to go further and faster. Students are always welcome and for them we are always ready to sit down, talk, discuss and find solutions for things that require solutions.
These are other hands! These are the hands that try to bring Albania down every time Albania tries to go up. These are the hands of an opposition which, with blind masks in front, with fire and iron, seeks to return Albania to where Albania will never return, seeks to return Albania to the abyss from which we together brought it out and from where we are climbing towards the historical peak, towards the dream of all Albanians for generations, the European Union.
It was intended that this office of the College of Europe, of the school of the new generation of Europeans, of the school of European students, be today the symbol of everything that Tirana and Albania and the Albanians will be without sides and are seeing in these difficult hours. These are difficult hours, but they are hours that we will all spend together because Albania will continue to climb, because Albania will continue on its way to Europe for all its students, for all its girls and boys, and will never let go of those hands that have grabbed it by the throat and have plunged the Albanian opposition deeper and deeper, but they cannot grab Albania by the throat and anyone who thinks that the law is far away, wrong. The responsibility before the law is everyone’s and everyone who has a hand in this crap will certainly pay. It will pay because Albania will never go back. Albanians will never again be hostages of the past and the past that returned with its blindness these hours in the center of Tirana, like a ghost trying to do what it has always done whenever Albanians wanted to raise their heads, will remain the past. The future belongs to students! The future belongs to Albania and Albanians!
