QPCC whips Tier II champs Defence Force

Three dif­fer­ent play­ers were on tar­get as Queen’s Park Crick­et Club (QPCC) whipped de­fend­ing T&T Pre­mier Foot­ball League Tier II Di­vi­sion One cham­pi­ons De­fence Force 3-1 to move in­to a share of the top spot with T&T Po­lice at the De­fence Force Re­serve Ground in Mac­queripe, Ch­aguara­mas, on Sat­ur­day (April 11).

The vis­i­tors took the lead in the eighth minute through Gio­van­ni Hospedales, but four min­utes lat­er Keilon Bur­nett-Ace­varo got the Army/Coast Guard com­bi­na­tion back on lev­el terms, on­ly for Saleem Hen­ry to re­store QPCC’s ad­van­tage eight min­utes be­fore the half-time whis­tle.

Six min­utes af­ter the restart, Kay­lon Williams added the third item for QPCC, af­ter which they held firm to se­cure the win, their eighth of the sea­son from 11 match­es, to move to 25 points, on­ly be­hind T&T Po­lice FC on goal dif­fer­ence at the top of the ta­ble, while De­fence Force stayed sec­ond from bot­tom of the ten-club stand­ing with eight points, two more than Cen­tral Soc­cer World FC, with a match in hand.

Over at the Black Rock Recre­ation Ground in Cour­land, To­ba­go, Po­lice FC and fourth-placed Carn­bee/Mt Pleas­ant shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw.

For Carn­bee/Mt Pleas­ant, Darreon Moses opened the scor­ing in the 29th minute be­fore Ka­reem ‘Scoo­by’ Fre­itas (35th penal­ty) and Isa­iah Pryce (36th) net­ted in quick suc­ces­sion to give the Law­men the lead, on­ly for Nave Roach to get the equalis­er for the host in the 64th.

In an­oth­er key en­counter, Ken­ton James found the tar­get in the 64th minute, and Josi­ah Shade, in the 66th, from the penal­ty spot for Mal­abr Young Stars to se­cure a come-from-be­hind 2-1 win against for­mer cham­pi­ons Harlem Strik­ers, who had tak­en a 23rd-minute lead via Roshaun Doobay at the An­cil Elock Ground in Ca­roni.

Else­where, Pa­lo Seco Union Hall edged Matu­ra Re­Unit­ed 1-0, and the Uni­ver­si­ty of T&T (UTT) out­played Cen­tral Soc­cer World (CSW) 3-1.

Sidey’s stays three points clear in Di­vi­sion Two

In Di­vi­sion Two, Sidey’s FC stayed three points clear at the top af­ter a 1-0 tri­umph over Ea­gles FC thanks to an own goal by De­von Brit­sol in the sec­ond minute at Blamin Recre­ation Ground in Cou­va.

The win lift­ed Sidey’s FC to 22 points from eight match­es, with Club San­do/Pro Se­ries next on 19 af­ter a sim­i­lar 1-0 win over RSS­FC, while City FC is a fur­ther point be­hind, thanks to a 2-0 blank­ing of San Fer­nan­do Gi­ants with Nadeem Grant and Ka­reem Richards as the scor­ers.
