🟢ART AND HISTORICAL MEMORY
The exhibition “Peruvian Films. An archive, censorship and a visual dialogue with memory” will inaugurate the programming for the 30 years of the PUCP Lima International Film Festival. The exhibition, by the artist Diana Kisner and curated by Inés Hernández López, explores film censorship in Peru through historical archives and artistic interventions. It will be open from July 12 to August 23 at Casa O’Higgins, as part of the cultural activities of the festival.
🔴VIOLENT ASSAULT IN SURCO
Five armed criminals intercepted a vehicle transporting gold bars on the way down El Derby Avenue, in Surco, when it was heading to the Jorge Chávez airport. During the assault, the driver was wounded by a gunshot, the co-pilot was kidnapped and the cargo was stolen. 27 bullet casings were found at the scene. The police are investigating the case, seeking to identify those responsible and clarify the whereabouts of the missing co-pilot.
🔴MEENSLESS DECORATION
The Congressional Medal of Honor Council evaluated awarding the Grand Cross Medal to the former president of Parliament and former interim president José Jerí for his management during the period 2025-2026. The proposal generated great controversy because the legislator was censured this year for his unrecorded meetings with a Chinese businessman and faces political questions. In addition, his former party, Somos Perú, had formally requested that he not receive the highest decoration from the Legislature.
