SAN MARINO – The Movimento Civico RETE launches a new alarm on the future of public healthcare in San Marino, pointing the finger at waiting lists, organizational problems and delays in programming. According to the movement, the risk is that the healthcare system built in recent decades will progressively lose effectiveness and services.
First of all, the Organizational Act of 2024 ends up in the crosshairs, still in force despite having been presented as provisional. RETE also recalls that last February the majority gave the Government a mandate to prepare the new Health Plan and update the Organizational Act and Requirements: “We are still waiting”.
The opinion on the Executive Committee of the ISS is also critical, more than a year after its establishment. RETE then asks a question about the management autonomy of the body and returns to denounce what it defines as “constant political interference in the management of the Institute”.
The movement also highlights the progressive space conquered by private healthcare: “If the inefficiencies and cuts end up making the private sector an obligatory choice, the citizens will pay the bill”.
RETE’s proposal passes through a “strong, autonomous in its management and capable of guaranteeing quality services” ISS and the creation of a new hospital. For the movement, the current structure also presents critical issues from a static and anti-seismic point of view. The new hospital should guarantee the continuity of free services for the San Marino people, but also become an accredited excellence, opening up the possibility of treating foreign patients for a fee.
The note ends with an appeal to politics: “Courage is needed, before, by dint of losing pieces, it is too late”.
