The Attorney General’s Office of Mexico City confirmed that it is investigating the death of Carolina Floresa 27-year-old young woman and former beauty queen of Baja California, who was found dead a week ago, in a crime in which the authorities have the victim’s mother-in-law as a suspect.
According to the first reports, the young woman, originally from the state of Baja California (northwest), was found dead on April 15 in a home in the wealthy neighborhood of Polanco, in the Mexican capital, while a day later her husband filed a complaint with the authorities.
“Since that moment, ministerial, expert and field investigation procedures have been continuously carried out, including the intervention of specialized personnel at the scene, the processing of evidence and actions to identify the person identified as likely responsible,” explained the Public Ministry.
Although the investigation is in a preliminary phase, the victim’s husband He pointed out his own mother as the material author of the murder, identified as Erika María ‘N’, after which the authorities issued an arrest warrant against her.
The hypothesis is that the victim’s mother-in-law He would have used a nine millimeter caliber weapon in the crime, the motives of which have not been revealed at the moment.
There is also no official confirmation of the suspect’s whereabouts. At the address in question, paramedics found the body of Carolina Flores with a gunshot wound to her head, according to local media Telediario.
The victim’s mother, crowned as ‘Miss Teen Universe’ of Baja California in 2017, spread through its social networks a call for a peaceful march for this Saturday in the city of Ensenada, with the objective that “our voice reaches the center of the country”, demand justice and that “his name is not another victim.”
For their part, the authorities of Baja California, where the deceased young woman was from, condemned the murder and promised to accompany the family throughout the process, which will take place in Mexico City.
Femicidal violence is one of the main problems facing Mexico, with an average of ten women murdered daily in the country.
