The rescheduled second-leg Concacaf Caribbean Cup semifinal between Jamaica’s Portmore United and Haitian club Violette AC will be played on Wednesday, October 28, at Sabina Park, starting at 6:00 pm Jamaica time.
Concacaf announced the new date in a release a short while ago.
The match was originally scheduled for Tuesday at Estadio Cibao in the Dominican Republic but was postponed because of a Dominican government policy barring Haiti’s national football team and other Haitian teams from playing in stadiums across the country.
Dominican Republic Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kelvin Cruz, reiterated the position on Sunday. He first outlined the policy on October 1, following incidents at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium during a match involving the two countries’ national teams.
The rescheduling is also likely to affect Portmore United’s Jamaica Premier League fixture against Chapelton Maroons on October 25.
Portmore United hold a 3-1 aggregate lead over Violette after winning the first leg at Sabina Park last Tuesday.
Meanwhile, defending champions Mount Pleasant FA will host Trinidad and Tobago’s Club Sando FC in their second-leg semifinal on Thursday at Sabina Park, with kick-off set for 6:00 pm.
That tie is level at 1-1 after the teams drew at the Hasely Crawford Stadium last Wednesday.
The two teams that advance on aggregate will contest the final, scheduled for December 1 and 5.
