Sermitsiaq has spoken to several of the politicians who are currently in the last day of the election campaign.
Along the road to Godthåbhallen is a number of politicians on Tuesday morning in the process of having a final talk with the voters.
Among them is Ellen Schärfe, who has made a comeback as a parliamentary candidate after 18 years and is running for Atassut.
Looking back, what would you say about your election campaign?
– Good and hard, but also in some cases surprisingly rewarding – especially meeting people up close and again participating in this kind of politics.
What are your plans for today?
– I will be here at the hall (Godthåbhallen, ed.) because Atassut uses this day as a day of celebration – a day for democracy. So we have to meet and talk with people, sometimes go inside to get warm because it’s very cold today. But the sun is shining and people are happy. It’s just lovely, says Ellen Schärfe.
Another of the politicians of Kalistat Lund, who stands for Inuit Ataqatigiit:
– It has been a good election campaign. Of course, the period was short, but I quickly took advantage of the opportunity when the election was announced. I was in Kuummiut, went on to Kulusuk to the west, then here and a few days in the south, where I also campaigned. Then I came back to Nuuk and continued my election campaign. It was really good.
What are your plans for today?
– We already started preparing for today last night, and I woke up early this morning to continue where we left off. I have voted here now and we will use the time outside the polling station to greet the voters and serve coffee and other things.
It’s cold – what do you think?
– Yes, it is. That’s the way it is this time of year, and we’re okay with it. Warm clothes are fine, and we are used to being out in the cold weather, says Kalistat Lund.
Naleraq candidate Oliver Bech says that he looks back on a fun election campaign:
– It’s been fun. This election campaign has gone really well, and we have had fun together while working on the election campaign.
What are your plans for today?
– I will make good use of social media and then I will talk to people. In addition, we candidates will be together today.
