Sources point out that Smith herself was promoted to the rank of Inspector in June 2022 and is now poised for another promotion just four years later, a pace some officers reportedly view as unusually rapid. While the Commissioner has made his recommendations, the final decision rests with the Security Services Commission, which has the authority to approve, reject, or amend those recommendations.
