The family of Walton Garbutt Jr. is appealing for blood donations as he continues to receive medical care following the fatal accident on the TV Ramos Highway that claimed the lives of Taleenie Garbutt and Sherri Mejia.
His father, Walton Garbutt Sr., says his son has blood type O positive and may require additional transfusions after undergoing surgery. “I knew in the first instance he had gotten two units, but then he did an extensive surgical procedure yesterday on his knees,” Walton Garbutt Sr. said.
Blood donations for Walton Garbutt Jr. can be made at the blood bank located in the Diagnostic Centre building in Kings Park, Belize City. Donors are asked to take their blood donation receipt to the ward where Garbutt Jr. is admitted so the donation can be recorded in his name.
Garbutt Sr. says his son was conscious and able to speak when he visited him this morning.
“I visited him this morning, and he was, well, calm. He was conscious, talking with me and everything,” he said.
Garbutt Sr. also expressed concern for his son’s friend, who was injured in the same accident and may also need surgery.
“Whenever I speak, I speak on behalf of my son and his best friend and for the other people involved in the accident, if they need blood or any assistance in any way,” he said.
If you would like to make a donation you can contact the family at 625-2305.
