Police investigating death of 84-year-old sister of former Minister

Lida Lewis, an 84-year-old farmer who has residency in the United States of America (USA), was found dead at around 12:50 p.m. on Thursday July 2, 2026 in the Peruvian Vale area.

Lewis, the sister of former New Democratic Party (NDP) politician and member of government Burton Williams, is said to have been found with a cellular phone stuck into her mouth.

Several people were detained but no charges have been laid.

Police are investigating the death, which is the 21st homicide in St Vincent and the Grenadines for 2026.
