PARAMARIBO — An underage girl may have become a victim of “sexual misconduct” by another minor. The report of the possible sexual abuse of the girl in a home on De Goede Zorgweg was received by the Santodorp police on Friday.
The Suriname Police Corps (KPS) reports on its website that the first investigative actions have now been carried out and that those involved have been heard. “The investigation is still ongoing and to protect the minors involved, the police will not make any further announcements,” the KPS said. The society is appealed not to spread unconfirmed information or fabrications about this case.
The police urge parents and caregivers to be alert, to talk to their children about personal boundaries and to encourage them to report unsafe situations immediately.
