In their latest bulletin, Luxembourg police report that they have managed to arrest several thieves and burglars in various locations across the country.
On Monday afternoon, a person had their mobile phone stolen in the Gare neighbourhood of Luxembourg City. A patrol was despatched and located the victim at the scene. According to preliminary information, the victim was accosted and pushed by two suspects, with one of them seizing the opportunity to snatch the mobile phone from inside the victim’s jacket pocket before handing it to the other suspect.
Officers managed to apprehend one of the two suspects, who appeared before an examining magistrate on the orders of the public prosecutor’s office. Additionally, the prosecutor’s office ordered the seizure of two mobile phones, cash, pepper spray, and a small quantity of drugs found in the suspect’s possession. The search for the second suspect has so far yielded no results.
On Tuesday, two burglars were apprehended following a break-in. One of them had tried to enter a house by smashing the glass of the back door. However, the burglar was caught by one of the residents. Both suspects then fled, but police were able to find and arrest them.
Further investigations revealed that both individuals are connected to several other burglaries. The public prosecutor’s office ordered their arrest, and they appeared before an examining magistrate.
Later on Tuesday, police received reports of a burglary in Belval. Three suspects broke into a single-family home via the garden. A patrol was quickly despatched and was able to apprehend two of the suspects in the garden while catching the third as they were leaving the home.
A search of the suspects revealed a large quantity of jewellery, which was seized. The public prosecutor’s office ordered the arrest of the three presumed burglars, and they appeared before an examining magistrate.
