The account on the social network X @VECERTRadar warned of the possible violation of PGN systems.
“A series of active compromises have been detected targeting critical infrastructure and government portals in Guatemala,” he warned.
It stated that the threat actor operates through a Telegram channel, has leaked administrative access credentials and has executed defacement attacks – visual alteration – on service portals.
The origin of the alleged attack would be linked to the JXLLTEAM group, which is associated with the alias KeyBreaker, according to the aforementioned account.
The alleged computer attack would have impacted key institutions within the Guatemalan Government, including the PGN.
“PGN is urged to immediately invalidate compromised accounts and perform a global administrative password rotation,” suggested @VECERTRadar.
In response, the PGN reported: “In this regard, it is reported that no hack has occurred to the institution. “Our system continues to operate normally and remains online, with no evidence of theft or loss of information.”
He added: “Cybersecurity protocols and information monitoring have been intensified, in response to the recent context in the country related to this issue.”
