The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) has deployed additional Patient Transport Vehicles (PTVs) to Albay and Catanduanes to support ongoing emergency response efforts amid the continued unrest of Mayon Volcano.
The unit delivered to Albay comes as communities deal with the effects of ashfall and volcanic activity. A separate turnover for Catanduanes is scheduled as part of the agency’s continuing assistance rollout.
Albay Governor Noel Rosal and Catanduanes Governor Dr. Patrick Alain Azanza were present during the turnover.
Data from the Office of Civil Defense show that 102,406 individuals across 87 barangays in the Bicol Region have been affected by the volcanic activity.
The PCSO said the deployment is part of its efforts to strengthen local government capacity to provide immediate medical transport and emergency services. An earlier PTV was turned over to Albay in December 2025.
PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles said the assistance aligns with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure a whole-of-government response to affected communities.
Local officials welcomed the additional support, citing the need for accessible and reliable medical transport during emergencies.
The PCSO said it will continue assisting local government units nationwide as part of its disaster response efforts.
