PUBLIC-private partnership is important in advancing food security in the country, according to the Trukai Industries Limited.
Trukai general manager for PNG and the Solomon Islands Andrew Grace hosted Department of Agriculture and Livestock secretary Dr Sergie Bang, at Tukai’s Erap Farm in Lae to show its progress in commercial rice farming.
“The tour included Trukai’s seed and germplasm complex, active rice fields currently under harvest, and the site earmarked for future commercial irrigated rice farming,” Grace said.
“It was a productive and inspiring visit, highlighting the real progress we are making in commercial rice production right here in PNG.
“Seeing the results of dedicated teamwork, modern farming practices, and strong local investment coming together is truly motivating.”
Grace thanked Bang for his support of agricultural development and food security initiatives in PNG.
“Together, we are building a stronger, more self-sufficient rice industry – from farm to plate,” he said.
“We are proud to contribute to growing PNG’s agriculture sector.
“The Erap Commercial Farm remains a key part of Trukai’s long-term vision to expand local rice production, and contribute to the nation’s economic growth.”
