Ulaanbaatar,
April 9, 2026 /MONTSAME/. A total of 236 teachers and education
administrators from all 21 aimags and nine districts of the capital are
participating in the 59th National Academic Conference themed “The Role and
Participation of Parents in Education Reform.”
Of these, 101
participants represent preschool education, while 135 come from general and
vocational education. A total of 60 selected papers from the local levels will
be presented and discussed. During the conference, Minister of Education and
Science Enkh-Amgalan Luvsantseren highlighted six key reforms required in the
education sector.
These include
teacher development, performance-based financing, digital transformation,
curriculum reform, an improved assessment system, and independent governance
free from political influence. He also announced that the “Let’s Listen to
Teachers” campaign will be launched this month to reduce teachers’ workload. The
minister emphasized the need to genuinely implement the concept that “the best
school is the one closest to home,” with active participation from both parents
and students.
In addition, he
noted that after resolving the kindergarten lottery issue, efforts will focus
on increasing access to primary schools in every residential area, addressing
rising tuition fees in private schools, and introducing quality-based
evaluation in education.
The Ministry of
Education also announced plans to implement a “1 teacher – 1 AI assistant, 1
student – 1 AI assistant” policy starting from September 1, 2026.
Furthermore, an
initiative has been proposed to recognize and celebrate supportive parents
nationwide. The conference aims to increase parental involvement in education
reform and to incorporate the ideas and research of teachers and scholars into
policymaking.
