The Sultanate of Oman reaffirmed its commitment to “toll-free” passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
Anatoly wrote: Badr al-Busaidi, Oman’s foreign minister, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to international laws and “toll-free” safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz late Monday after talks with senior Iranian officials in Muscat.
In a statement published on the American social media platform X, Al-Busaidi said: “The talks with Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Speaker of Iran’s Parliament, and Abbas Araghchi, Minister of Foreign Affairs, were focused on the recent memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, “especially the clause related to the Strait of Hormuz.” “We reaffirmed our commitment to international law and toll-free safe passage,” Albusaidi said.
These statements came after Qatar and Pakistan, the peace mediators, issued a joint statement on Sunday after the end of the US-Iran talks at the resort of Burgenstock, Switzerland, and said that the parties agreed to establish a “de-escalation core” with the participation of the US, Iran and Lebanon with the facilitation of two mediators to ensure adherence to the cessation of military operations in Lebanon according to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
