Protests over the prolonged electrical power outages are intensifying in the interior of Venezuela. On Tuesday night, residents of sectors of Anzoátegui, Guárico and Mérida they took to the streets to demand solutions to continuous service failures.
In Guaricocommunity residents The Mercedes of the Llano They blocked the national highway Las Mercedes-Chaguaramas-Valle de la Pascuaas well as streets of the town, complaining about power outages that lasted up to nine hours.
By burning tires, the protesters, in addition to asking for the restoration of the electricity supply, shouted slogans such as “Elections now.”
Security officials went to the scene to try to persuade residents to end the protest. Despite the insistence, the citizens maintained the demonstration.
The situation was repeated in Puerto Píritu, in Anzoátegui, where police moved to the highway that leads to Barcelona to try to reactivate traffic, blocked with the burning of tires by local residents in protest against the prolonged power outages they suffer.
Sectors of Mérida suffer fractional blackouts
In Mérida, sectors such as El Campito experienced fractional blackouts and residents demanded the immediate restoration of service on Tuesday night with bangs of pots and pans.
Reports on social networks indicate that the service supply was interrupted on Tuesday morning and was restored at 4:00 pm, but failed again at 8:00 pm.
Those affected described the situation as “unsustainable.”
