From the information of San Marno (by Antonio Fabbri) – The prestigious Milan 2026 Gala, organized by the National Italian American Foundation (NIAF) in the setting of Palazzo Mezzanotte, home of the Italian Stock Exchange, was an evening of celebration and charity, last May 26th.
On Titan, however, the participation of the leaders of the San Marino Christian Democratic Party (PDCS) in the evening triggered a certain embarrassment and political perplexity, raising doubts about the coherence and institutional appropriateness of the participation. The Gala was, among others, proudly supported by the COCCO&GIGANTE firm, as the lawyer Filippo Cocco himself says on his Linkedin social profile, well known on Titan as a lawyer for CBSM, of its president, Catia Tomasetti as well as husband and colleague of Patrizia Gigante, the latter newly appointed president of the San Marino Authority for the protection of personal data and privacy, indicated by the PDCS. And the seed of the political perplexities that are spreading across the Titan, even within the DC itself, would lie precisely in this circumstance. (…)
The photo of embarrassment
What has caused a certain embarrassment and blame, until now underground, are the images that have circulated and are circulating, also because they were published online by one of the protagonists, of the gala evening which portray the Secretary of the PDCS, Giancarlo Venturini, and the DC group leader, Massimo Andrea Ugolini, in the company of the lawyer Filippo Cocco and his wife Patrizia Gigante, photographed posing in the photo corner. Gigante Lawyer, it was said, proposed by the DC for the role of President of the Guarantor Authority for the protection of personal data of San Marino and appointed to this position on 16 April last by the majority in the Council. The paradox arises from the fact that, in that very same session, the same Christian Democrat majority had blocked the nomination of Andrea Zafferani (Future Republic) as a member of the Authority. (…) Now, the conviviality shown in Milan by the DC leaders with the current top of the Privacy Authority has therefore created strong discontent, not only in the opposition but also within the DC itself, where many see a lack of coherence in this behavior.
Also at the Milanese Gala were exponents of finance
Not lost on the shots published online was a photo in which the Finance Secretary Marco Gatti appears sitting at the table with his colleagues. Then, in still other photos, the presence at the Gala of Paolo Catalfamo (photo), president of LifeStar Holding (also among the partners of the Milanese event). On the other hand, on this occasion he was somewhat of the master of the house, playing the role of GChairman wing of the event, and did not fail to greet the guests from the pulpit. After greeting the Vice President of the Chamber Giorgio Mulè, who among other things the day before was in San Marino to receive an honor, he also greeted Secretary Gatti himself. The figure of Catalfamo is present in the current economic-financial panorama of San Marino: after having obtained authorization from the Central Bank in 2024 to distribute insurance products through the Cassa di Risparmio (CRSM), LifeStar it was given last April as being in the running for the acquisition of Bank of San Marino (…).
