The General Electricity Company of Libya (GECOL) has received a new 220/66 kV transformer with a capacity of 125 MVA at the Um Al-Jadawel substation in Brak Al-Shati, as part of ongoing efforts to rehabilitate the facility and strengthen the electricity network in the south.
The transformer, which arrived from Italy, will replace a damaged unit at the station. Installation work will begin shortly, followed by a series of technical and operational tests before it is brought into service.
According to GECOL, the upgrade is expected to improve grid stability and enhance electricity supply across the Al-Shati area and neighboring regions.
