In response to one of the most persistent problems in construction—humidity—, cemex presented an anti-humidity concrete that incorporates water-repellent properties from its composition, with the aim of improving the durability and performance of buildings in Mexico.
The company explained that a significant proportion of construction in the country faces humidity effectswhich impacts both structural integrity and habitability conditions. Faced with this context, it developed a solution that limits water filtration and contributes to extending the useful life of the construction elements.

“This concrete integrates protection against humidity from its origin, which allows a more efficient and consistent solution on site,” said Yuri De los Santos, vice president of Concrete and Construction at Cemex México. He added that innovation responds to the demand for materials that increase the quality of construction.
Unlike superficial solutions, the anti-humidity property is present in the entire mass of the concrete, which allows it to maintain its effectiveness over time. In addition, it reduces the appearance of stains, salt spray and other visible signs of deterioration, also providing aesthetic value to surfaces.
However, the company specified that its performance depends on adequate design and execution on site, and that it does not replace waterproofing systems when they are necessary.
With this development, Cemex reinforces its strategy to offer comprehensive solutions that respond to the current needs of the sector, in line with its commitment to innovation after more than a century of operation.
