The National Cooperative Credit Union (NCCU) partnered with the Morne Jaune–Rivière Cyrique Reunion to support a series of community activities celebrating the heritage of the twin villages while promoting community development.
As per an NCCU press release, an NCCU team joined residents on Monday, July 7, as part of the partnership, to carry out a road improvement project in Morne Frayal. The Credit Union also made donations to the Rivière Cyrique Health Centre in support of healthcare services within the community.
The day’s programme concluded with a networking event at the Morne Jaune Primary School, where NCCU representatives met with members and reportedly encouraged them to continue strengthening their relationship with the Society despite changes taking place in the wider financial sector.
According to the press release, the activities provided an opportunity for the Credit Union to strengthen its connection with residents, build meaningful relationships and contribute to projects expected to have a lasting positive impact on the communities.
NCCU said its involvement in the reunion reflects its longstanding commitment to the south-east of Dominica, where it has provided services for the past 15 years through its sub-offices in St. David’s, Grand Fond and La Plaine.
The Credit Union noted that supporting the reunion forms part of its broader efforts to invest in community-based initiatives and maintain strong relationships with the communities and members it serves.
