Nauru Airlines (RON, Nauru) is targeting March 2027 for the launch of flights between Majuro and Honolulu under a non-binding memorandum of understanding signed on July 15, 2026, the Marianas Business Journal reported.
The proposed service would use a B737-800 and could involve a codeshare with Air Marshall Islands (CWM, Majuro). Air Marshall Islands chairman Robert Muller said the Marshall Islands government or carrier would assume responsibility for a specified number of seats needed for the route to break even.
The parties have not disclosed the proposed flight frequencies or the value of the Marshall Islands government’s financial commitment. However, the Nauru government said commercial agreements were expected in late August.
As previously reported by ch-aviation, the two governments signed an earlier non-binding MOU in February 2024 covering proposed Nauru Airlines services between Majuro and Honolulu. Nauru Airlines and Air Marshall Islands expanded their cooperation in July 2025 to include sales, schedule coordination, capacity allocation, charter operations, and technical support.
United Airlines (UA, Chicago O’Hare) currently operates the only scheduled Majuro-Honolulu service as part of its Island Hopper network.
