Myanmar Positioned to Chair 2027 ASEAN Healthcare Summits

Myanmar has begun preparations to host the 21st ASEAN Senior Officials Meeting on Health Development (SOMHD) and the Sixth ASEAN-ROK SOMHD meetings in 2027, according to the 30th ASEAN-Republic of Korea Dialogue.
Held in Seoul, the Republic of Korea, from 6 to 7 July 2026, the dialogue was attended by a Myanmar delegation led by U Myo Myint Maung, Chargé d’Affaires/Ambassador of Myanmar to the Republic of Korea, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, the Myanmar delegation discussed regional health cooperation under the ASEAN-ROK socio-cultural cooperation. The delegation also briefed participants on developments in Myanmar, including peace and national reconciliation efforts, amnesties and invitations for political dialogue, while calling for constructive engagement based on mutual respect and the principle of non-interference. — Htun Htun/KNN
