MINSK, 2 May (BelTA) – The Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus will join the international initiative Night of Museums on 16 May, the theatre’s press service told BelTA.
Dimmed foyer lighting, light installations, candle flicker, mirrored reflections: the theatre will transform into a remarkable space filled with exquisitely beautiful music.
“Leading orchestra musicians and opera soloists take part in the event every year, but for the first time the Bolshoi Theatre itself will become the venue for an unusual performance. The theatre invites audiences to the foyer of the dress circle for an elegant chamber concert, Shadows of Reflections. It is a unique opportunity to pause and let the music carry you beyond the real world, into a realm of harmony and tranquility,” the theatre said.
Visitors will embark on a kind of journey from the meditative works of Erik Satie and Claude Debussy, and the romantic, luminous pieces of David Lanz, to jazz standards by George Gershwin and Erroll Louis Garner, passing through the cinematic worlds of Henry Mancini and Patrick Doyle.
The deep, velvety voice of Yekaterina Mikhnovets (mezzo-soprano), the transparent sound of the piano (Irina Butel), and the magic of the marimba and percussion (Aleksandr Tiribinin) will create a light, airy atmosphere where academic tradition meets the freedom of musical improvisation. The evening’s program was crafted by director Natalya Kuzmenkova, lighting designer Aleksandr Sanko, and sound engineer Vadim Ivanov.
The concert begins at 23:00.
