Determine the reasons for the “Greens” stumble in the World Cup

Former Algerian international Moussa Saib expressed his vision for the national team’s participation in the 2026 World Cup, following elimination by Switzerland in the sixteenth round, stressing that the team’s overall performance was not up to expectations.
Sayeb explained that the “Greens” did not succeed in imposing pressure on the competitors or threatening them in the desired manner during the tournament, pointing out that the defensive aspect was one of the biggest weaknesses, after the team conceded 9 goals in 4 matches, a number that does not allow, in his opinion, to achieve a long journey in a competition the size of the World Cup.
The former national team captain also expressed his reservations about the large number of changes in the starting lineup, considering that instability prevented reaching an ideal lineup, despite more than two years of technical staff work. Speaking about the next stage, Moussa Sayeb praised what Riyad Mahrez did with the national team, but stressed that football requires renewal, and that the national team is entering a transitional phase during which a new generation of players must be given the opportunity.
Saib proposed a change in the level of leadership of the artistic model, calling for giving confidence to an Algerian coach, who will be accompanied by a work team that includes national competencies, in order to build a clear project and restore stability to the national team during the coming years.
