Engineer Abdul Khalil Karimi, head of agricultural affairs of the Samangan Department of Agriculture, told Bakhtar Agency that this year, 18,000 and 240 metric tons of grapes have been obtained from the fields of 1,200 hectares of land in Feruzenkhchir and Hazrat Sultan districts.
According to him, due to natural disasters, especially hail, the grape harvest has decreased compared to last year; But its price in local markets has increased compared to previous years.
He added that currently, one man of grapes is sold for 150 afghanis in the local markets and among the famous varieties of Samangan grapes are Taifi, Hosseini and Kalk Aros.
At the same time, the grape growers of Samangan say that the quality of the grapes this year is good; But natural disasters have had a negative impact on the harvest. Abdul Islam, a gardener in Feruzankhchir district, said that his harvest has decreased due to the hailstorm and he is not happy with the current prices.
He asked the people to use domestic fruits instead of foreign products so that the market of domestic products can grow.
He also requested the officials to build standard cold rooms for the preservation of grapes, so that farmers can keep their crops in the right place and present them to the market at the right time and price.
