Ulaanbaatar,
April 24, 2026 /MONTSAME/. Mongolia’s athletes competing at the 6th Asian Beach
Games, which officially opened on April 22 in Sanya, Hainan Province, China,
have gotten off to a strong start, with the country’s first medals coming from
the jiu-jitsu team.
In the women’s
52 kg category, Mongoljin G., representing Garuda Academy and Gumuda
Construction, won a bronze medal. She advanced past the first round, defeated a
Singaporean opponent, but lost on points to the UAE’s Asma Alhosani in her
third match.
She then
secured a win by penalty against a South Korean competitor in the repechage
round, earning a chance to compete for bronze. In the bronze medal match, she
defeated UAE athlete Hessa Alshamsi.
This marks
Mongolia’s first medal at the Games. Mongoljin is also a two-time bronze
medalist at the Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championships.
