The gruelling endurance test, completed in Villeurbanne on Sunday, combined repeated 8km runs with demanding functional fitness stations including rowing, lunges, weighted exercises and burpees. In total, Cromwell pushed through more than 26 hours and 37 minutes of continuous effort, battling physical exhaustion, sleep deprivation and mental fatigue along the way.
The athlete, who coaches at a Monaco gym, admitted that the toughest moments came during the night as fatigue began to accumulate after dozens of kilometres of running and multiple intense workout stations. Despite the difficulty, he remained focused on one objective: finishing without giving up.
Under the supervision of a court officer, every stage of the attempt was filmed and verified in the hope of securing official recognition from Guinness World Records. Throughout the challenge, friends, clients and supporters took turns encouraging him through the night, transforming the individual performance into a collective effort.
Cromwell’s achievement now marks a major milestone in the growing HYROX discipline, which combines endurance running with functional fitness.
The challenge may be over, but his season continues. He is now preparing for the HYROX World Championships in Stockholm this June, where he will compete in the doubles category.
