On Sunday, June 14, Saint Lucia will mark World Blood Donor Day along with countries around the globe. The theme this year is “One Drop of Humanity: Give Blood, Save Lives.”
The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Nutrition, along with Millennium Heights Medical Complex and St Jude Hospital, has invited all eligible Saint Lucians to join this life-saving effort throughout June.
Throughout June, the Ministry encourages staff, partners, and the public to wear red every Friday to honour World Blood Donor Day. Wearing red is an easy way to show support and remind everyone of the donors, patients, and lives that rely on blood donations.
If you take part in the campaign, snap a photo with your team in red and share it on social media to help spread the message, the Ministry advises.
Saint Lucians are also encouraged to donate blood at Owen King EU Hospital or St Jude. Feel free to invite your family, friends and colleagues to sign up as donors as well.
