Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations Minister Agni Deo Singh is leading Fiji’s tripartite delegation to the 114th International Labour Conference (ILC) currently underway in Geneva, Switzerland.
The conference, organised by the International Labour Organization (ILO), began on 1 June and will run until 12 June, bringing together government, employer and worker representatives from around the world to discuss key labour and employment issues.
The Fiji Mission in Geneva confirmed that Minister Singh is heading the national delegation, which includes Permanent Secretary Maritino Nemani representing Government, alongside representatives from Fiji’s employers and workers’ organisations.
In a social media update, the Mission said it was pleased to welcome the Minister and Fiji’s delegation to Geneva for the annual conference.
“The Fiji Tripartite Delegation comprises Hon. Singh and PS Nemani (Government) and Fiji Employers and Fiji Workers (Union) Representatives.”
The International Labour Conference is the ILO’s highest decision-making body and serves as a global forum where governments, employers and workers debate labour standards, employment policies, workplace rights and social protection issues.
The Fiji Mission noted that First Secretary Wilisoni Jiuta has been leading preparatory engagements and providing support to the delegation throughout the conference.
The conference is expected to address a range of international labour issues, including employment rights, workplace protections, social justice and emerging challenges facing workers and employers in a rapidly changing global economy.
The conference concludes on 12 June.
