Due to the modernisation of signalling technology, operations on Prague’s Metro Line C will be suspended from today, Friday, until Sunday on the section between Kobylisy and Pražského povstání. Passengers will have to use replacement bus services and a special tram line.
A major service disruption will affect Prague’s Metro Line C from today, Friday, 8 May, until Sunday, 10 May 2026. Metro services between the stations Kobylisy and Pražského povstání will be completely suspended. The reason is the replacement of outdated signalling and interlocking systems at the Florenc and Vltavská stations.
During the closure, Metro Line C will operate only on the sections Háje – Pražského povstání and Letňany – Kobylisy. A shuttle service will run between the stations Ládví and Kobylisy. Trains there will operate alternately in both directions on a single track.

To ensure transport services continue, Prague Public Transit Company DPP is introducing several replacement lines. Bus line XC will connect Kobylisy with Pražského povstání, while line XC1 will operate between Nádraží Holešovice and Pražského povstání. In addition, tram line 36 will be introduced. It will run from Sídliště Ďáblice via Nádraží Holešovice, Vltavská, Masarykovo nádraží, Karlovo náměstí, I. P. Pavlova and Náměstí Bratří Synků to Vozovna Pankrác.
According to Prague Public Transit Company, the original interlocking systems from the 1970s at the Florenc and Vltavská stations will be replaced with modern electronic systems during the extended weekend. The works are considered an important step towards the planned automation of Metro Line C.
