According to forecasters, on Thursday it will rain in Lithuania only in places, and on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and at the beginning of the new week, we will get short rain in many parts of the country.
Meteorologists warn that on Friday from 2 p.m. until 11 p.m. dangerous thunderstorms will hit parts of Lithuania. During the thunderstorm, wind gusts will increase to 15 m/s in some places.
Thunderstorm warnings have been issued in Marijampolė, Alytus, Kaunas, Panevėžys, Utena and Vilnius counties.
It is recommended to stay indoors during a lightning strike, unplug household appliances from the power source and not use electrical outlets. Those who will be outside are advised to find shelter during a thunderstorm, not to be in an open place, near single trees, metal poles, not to run. It is also advised to be prepared for possible power outages.
Weather forecaster Elvyra Latvėnaitė writes on her Facebook account that on Thursday evening, the clouds of the wavy atmospheric front of the cyclone named Peggy will reach the western and southwestern regions of Lithuania, and in some places it will be heavily rained, while another atmospheric front will rise from the south near the southern and southeastern regions.
Friday will also be warm but rainy with thunderstorms. Already on Friday evening, a small cyclone will reach Lithuania from the south, so on Saturday night and at the beginning of the day there will be even more rain, thunder will rumble, during the day the wind will turn to the west, it will get stronger, especially on the coast and in the western areas, the day will already be cooler.
Sunday is calmer, foggy at night, light rain during the day.
The beginning of next week will be similar – a weak, unstable wind will blow, fog will often spread at night, and it will still rain briefly during the day, with thunderstorms. The air temperature characteristic of Lithuanian summer will make you happy.
