The Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado, Nobel Peace Prize 2025, will meet next week in Madrid with the president of the conservative Popular Party (PP), Alberto Núñez Feijóo, and with the president of the Community of Madrid, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, from the same party.
This was confirmed to EFE by sources from the PP, the main opposition party in Spain, who specified that the meeting with Feijóo will take place next Friday the 17th at the national headquarters of the PP in Madrid.
In addition, Machado will hold a meeting with Ayuso and with the mayor of Madrid, the conservative José Luis Martínez-Almeida.
The Venezuelan opposition confirmed last Tuesday that she will be in Spain next week through a video in which, together with former presidential candidate Edmundo González Urrutia, she made an invitation to meet on the 18th with Venezuelans residing in Spain.
The details of Machado’s agenda are still unknown, but Senate sources informed EFE on Wednesday that Machado will visit the Upper House on Monday the 20th and is scheduled to meet that day with the president of the Senate, Pedro Rollán.
In an interview on public radio RNE, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, assured on Wednesday that he has “no problem” in receiving it, but he is not aware that he has requested it.
