The second round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers witnessed resounding surprises, most notably the Ghanaian national team’s defeat at home by four to two goals.
After the unexpected result of the Algerian national team, which tied with the Burundian national team with two goals to the same, the Gambian national team blew up a big surprise by defeating Ghana, to lead the third group with a full score.
The Gambian national team was trailing by two goals until the 37th minute, but Ghana’s defense collapsed at the end of the first period and conceded two goals from Badamuzi and then Kolay, ending the first half with a draw.
In the second half, substitute Ebrima Kolay scored two goals to lead Gambia to victory in one of the surprises of the second round.
In another match, in the second round of Group Twelve, the Guinea-Bissau national team defeated its guest, Nigeria, with three unanswered goals, rising to second place with 6 points, achieving the full mark.
The Cape Verde team, which performed brilliantly in the World Cup at home, was defeated by Rwanda by two goals to one, in Group Eleven.
The Cape Verde team lost for the second time in a row, while Rwanda achieved its second win in a row, topping the group that includes Mali and Liberia with 6 points from two victories.
