Today, June 16th, is one year since the collapse of the roof of the auditorium of the Dominica [Grammar ]School, and to date, no reason has been given by the government of Dominica for such a serious structural failure of a facility that was intended to accommodate 600 persons, primarily students and teachers.
The debris of the collapsed roof has been cleared, and the rest of the structure remains like a graveyard for [passersby] to only imagine what happened and what could have happened if that had collapsed when the building was occupied.
For the authorities, it appears to be no big deal, and for the rest of the population, no one died, so what.
Construction activities on the rest of the project are continuing at a snail’s pace, even though the Prime Minister and the Minister of Education promised that all Construction activities would be completed for the reopening of school, in September 2025.
No one [has] yet [been] held accountable for the collapse of the roof of the auditorium of the Dominica [Grammar ]School. The Physical planning division, the contractor, the consultants, and the developer are all allowed to walk away without a simple statement to the population or at least the students who could have been victim to the worst disaster the Commonwealth of Dominica would have experienced and averted by divine intervention.
June 16th should be a day of remembrance and Thanksgiving.
