Yesterday, the Public Works Authority “Ashghal” announced the start of implementation of the Qatar Aeronautical Academy development project in the Ras Bu Abboud area as part of its efforts to develop an advanced educational and training infrastructure in accordance with the highest international standards, which supports the preparation of qualified national cadres to lead the future of the aviation sector, and enhances the position of the State of Qatar as a leading regional center in the fields of aviation, education and specialized training.
The authority explained, in a statement, that the project includes implementing design and construction work within the academic campus, including the construction of the aviation operations building and pilot training, the air traffic control simulation building and airport operations management to provide an integrated training environment in accordance with the highest international standards, in addition to establishing a “hanger” for the aircraft support services unit inside Doha International Airport.
She stated that the work also includes developing student housing, increasing its capacity, improving the level of accommodation, preparing an integrated general plan that takes into account the optimal use of spaces and ease of movement within the academic campus, as well as modernizing the systems and infrastructure in accordance with global sustainability standards (GSAS) by raising the efficiency of energy and water consumption, improving the quality of the indoor environment, using environmentally friendly materials, and implementing smart solutions that enhance operating efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
Regarding the project, Mrs. Dana Suleiman Al Hammadi, an engineer in the project, highlighted in statements that the development work of the Qatar Aviation Academy comes in line with the latest international standards, which contributes to supporting advanced training programs in the aviation sector, indicating that the project aims to provide an integrated training environment that meets the requirements for qualifying pilots in accordance with the highest international standards, especially the standards of the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), with its implementation to be completed during the fourth quarter of 2027.
She noted that the project includes the construction of an air traffic control simulation building with an area of approximately 1,902 square metres, consisting of two floors and equipped with the latest simulation and training systems, in addition to the construction of a building for student activities with an area of approximately 1,000 square metres, providing an integrated environment that combines educational and recreational aspects, as well as the renovation of student housing buildings with a total area of approximately 2,200 square meters to increase the capacity and improve the quality of facilities, and the establishment of a “hanger” for aircraft support services inside Doha International Airport, which includes a hangar with an area 2,047 square meters, and offices with an area of 647 square meters, equipped with integrated facilities that include maintenance workshops for aircraft and avionics, administrative and technical offices, specialized warehouses, operating rooms, technical records, and halls for training and meetings.
